Long-Term Birth Control Program

We're Expanding Access to Long-Term Birth Control with the Nexplanon Implant and the Liletta IUD.

Desert Star Institute offers long-term birth control with the Liletta IUD and Nexplanon Implant for uninsured people seeking non-permanent contraception. Eligible people, who are registered patients at Desert Star Family Planning Clinic, and do not have public or private assistance for medications may apply for our Long-Term Birth Control Program.

The Nexplanon Implant is a non-daily form of birth control composed of a small thin rod that is inserted under the skin of the upper arm by a skilled provider. It releases a steady daily dose of the contraceptive hormone into the circulation preventing ovulation, or the release of an egg by the ovary, and therefore preventing pregnancy.

The Liletta IUD is a non-daily form of birth control composed of a small T-shaped device that is inserted into your uterus by a skilled provider. It releases a steady daily dose of the contraceptive hormone into the uterus causing changes that prevent pregnancy. An additional benefit is a reduced intensity of periods.

When inserted, both options can provide safe, longer-term birth control compared to other methods.

To be eligible for the program you must 1) Live in the United States, 2) Have no public or private assistance for medications, 3) Register as a patient at Desert Star Family Planning Clinic, and 4) Meet financial eligibility criteria.
